MESSAGE FROM MDA
Dear all,
Greetings from the Malaysian Dental Association(MDA)!
As of now, I believe most if not all of our members have received the Update on the First Phase of COVID-19 Vaccination for the Frontliners (The content was drafted and approved in the DG's office) following a meeting between the Hon Gen Sec of the MDA and the Director General of Health, Ministry of Health this morning.
As opposed to the information we have gathered from Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr Noor Hisham, the email sent to us by the Bilik Gerakan Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan(See attached) in less than an hour ago clearly stated that "Fasa pertama pemberian vaksin COVID-19 adalah kepada anggota di barisan hadapan" and both pegawai pergigian(under A1) as well as Private Dentist(under B) fulfilled the definition of anggota barisan hadapan.
Please rest assured that the MDA will duly fill up the Lampiran as per required using the information that we have gathered from the Survey we have conducted earlier.
We shall keep all our members updated from time to time.

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF MDA 2019/21

ALL ACTIVE PRIVATE DENTAL PRACTITIONERS ARE FULLY CONSIDERED DURING COVID-19 VACCINE ROLLOUT
" Dear beloved members and colleagues,
Greetings from Malaysian Dental Association.
The whole healthcare machinery in Malaysia is truly excited as the COVID-19 vaccination exercise will be rolled out soon. During the earlier days, when the topic of vaccine access in Malaysia was first discussed, it raised questions as to where the dental profession stands in the list. It is undeniable that vaccine access for the dental profession, a profession that supports the overall healthcare system, would help to ease the burden on the overall medical system in the country. Oral healthcare remains an important and essential service even during the pandemic. Oral health is not to be treated as an afterthought to overall healthcare, when the fact is that oral health is overall health.
MDA would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have receive confirmation from Oral Health Program, Ministry of Health Malaysia, that all dental practitioners will be given access to the vaccine during the first phase of its implementation. On this note, it is indeed assuring to know that all active private dental practitioners will also be included. Of course, for the time being, the details of the vaccination program, such as the vaccination centres and coordination, has yet to be made known to us. Nevertheless, MDA will be in constant communication with the authorities for this matter. The Oral Health Program, Ministry of Health Malaysia also wish to thank all those dental practitioners who have volunteered as vaccinator. MDA alone has recorded a whopping 650 private dental practitioners as vaccinator volunteers. Thank you for your support and for rising up to the challenge in this nationwide vaccination programme. My hat’s off to you!
Let’s all continue to play our part to fight this war against COVID-19 while we wait for the authorities / committees to flesh out the details of the vaccine rollout. "
