Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.
Diseases and Conditions
Maryland Bridge : Maryland bonded bridges (also called a resin-bonded bridge or a Maryland bridge) are made of porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or plastic teeth and gums supported by a metal or porcelain framework. Metal or porcelain wings on each side of the bridge are bonded to your existing teeth.
Cantilever bridges: Cantilever bridges are used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth. This is not very common anymore and is not recommended in the back of the mouth where it can put too much force on other teeth and damage them.
Traditional Bridge : Traditional bridges involve creating a crown for the tooth or implant on both side of the missing tooth, with a pontic in between. Traditional bridges are the most common type of bridge and are made of either porcelain fused to metal or ceramics.

A thorough cleaning and removal of all traces of plaque and tartar on your teeth that cannot be removed by brushing.
Diseases and Conditions
It is a term to describe professional cleaning of your teeth, by using an ultrasonic (a very high speed vibrating instrument), your attending dentist will scale off plaque and calculus which are normally inaccessible areas by normal toothbrushing.
General scaling:
This procedure is the removal of heavy hardened bacteria that has accumulated on the teeth. Heavy bleeding usually occurs once hardened deposits are removed. The gums are allowed to heal before any further cleaning is done. A follow up appointment is done in two weeks. Routine cleaning can be done once gum health is assessed.

Paediatric dental sealants are applied on children's teeth to prevent food from falling into pits or holes in and around the teeth.
Diseases and Conditions
Paediatric Filling :
A paediatric dental filling is a type of dental restoration procedure done by filling a decaying or a broken and damaged tooth with specific types of materials for children.
Diseases and Conditions
Dental Sealant:
A dental sealant is a thin layer of filling material that is used to fill small grooves on the biting (occlusal) surfaces of permanent posterior teeth, called pits and fissures. These grooves are usually very susceptible to cavities because food is collected in them and is hard to remove if brushing is not done thoroughly. Sealants can only be done on teeth that have no signs of cavity and are to be thoroughly assessed by the doctor and hygienist before placement.
Before placing a sealant, the occlusal surface of the tooth is cleaned and etched. The sealant material is then applied with a small tip to ensure the grooves of the teeth are thoroughly sealed; it is then light cured for ten seconds. The sealant is checked at every cleaning for any voids that may occur and repaired if needed.

A dental filling is a type of dental restoration procedure done by filling a decaying or a broken and damaged tooth with specific types of materials. There are different types of dental filling materials like gold, silver or amalgam fillings, and composite resins.
Diseases and Conditions
Composite Resin Fillings - Composite (plastic) resins are matched to be the same colour as your teeth and therefore used where a natural appearance is desired. The ingredients are mixed and placed directly into the cavity, where they harden. Composites may not be the ideal material for large fillings as they may chip or wear over time. They can also become stained from coffee, tea or tobacco, and do not last as long as other types of fillings generally from three to 10 years.
Removal of Existing Filling
(Composites , Glass Ionomer Cements , Temporary Fillings etc.)
A dental restoration or dental filling is a dental restorative material used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from caries or external trauma. Although amalgam is much phased off in most Malaysia private practice due to the advancement of composite technology, it is still the material of choice in the government clinics due to the fact that amalgam has superior mechanical properties.*
Dental restorations can be divided into two broad types: direct restorations and indirect restorations. All dental restorations can be further classified by their location and size. A root canal filling is a restorative technique used to fill the space where the dental pulp normally resides.
Fillings:
A filling is a way to restore (fix) a tooth that has been damaged by decay or trauma back to its regular shape and function. The patient is normally given aesthetic before treatment is started. When a filling is done, all the decay is first removed, and the area is sanitized. An adhesive is used for retention before the filling material is placed. Composite is the common choice of filling materials. The composite is soft and moldable and needs to be light cured before shaping. Composite is made of glass and plastic particles blended to form a resin. It is tooth colored and comes in an array of shades.

Wisdom tooth, as commonly known, is actually the third molar tooth. For most of us wisdom teeth are the last teeth in the mouth, usually erupted during the late teens or early 20's. For most of us wisdom teeth are either fully erupted, partially erupted or do not erupt at all. It is common to have some discomfort during eruption of wisdom teeth, epecially the lowers. The most common complaint is pain and swelling. This is normally followed by fever, difficulties in mouth opening, and of course eating. These will normally subside after a few days, however some will require a visit to the dentist or Oral Surgeons for cleaning and a course of antibiotics and painkillers. Subsequently the teeth might require removal. Since most of wisdom teeth, mainly the lower, are impacted, removal means a minor oral surgical procedure.
Diseases and Conditions
Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth — the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of your mouth on the top and bottom.
If a wisdom tooth doesn't have room to grow (impacted wisdom tooth), resulting in pain, infection or other dental problems, you'll likely need to have it pulled. Wisdom tooth extraction may be done by a dentist or an oral surgeon. Some dentists and oral surgeons recommend wisdom tooth extraction even if impacted teeth aren't causing problems, as a preventive measure against potential future problems.
Extraction:
An extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Teeth are removed for different reasons including trauma, impaction, decay beyond repair, orthodontic treatment, retained deciduous teeth and supernumerary (extra) teeth. Extractions can be done under local or general anesthetic or the patient’s preference. This depends on the level of difficulty involved. When teeth are badly broken down or impacted, sometimes the gums around the tooth must be cut back to allow removal. This is called a surgical extraction. Once anesthesia is achieved, the gums are reflected away. An elevator is then used to loosen in the socket. Lastly the tooth is removed with forceps remove the tooth. Sutures may be placed if needed. Detailed by post–operative instructions are given to the patient before they are dismissed with an oral and written treatment plan.

Teeth whitening is a dental procedure to restore the colour of your teeth, or to whiten your teeth beyond its natural colour.
Diseases and Conditions
Teeth Whitening Kits (Home based) : After assessing your dental condition, the dentist makes a customised mouth guard according to your teeth, together with some bleaching gel. After applying a layer of bleaching gel, the mouth guard is inserted into your mouth and left for one or more hours for the bleaching to take effect. You can then do subsequent treatments at home by consistently wearing the mouth guard (with the bleach gel) for a few hours.
Dental bleaching, also known as tooth whitening, is a common procedure in general dentistry. According to the FDA, whitening restores natural tooth color and bleaching whitens beyond the natural color. There are many methods available, such as brushing, bleaching strips, bleaching pen, bleaching gel, and laser bleaching.
Bleaching methods use carbamide peroxide which reacts with water to form hydrogen peroxide. Carbamide peroxide has about a third of the strength of hydrogen peroxide. This means that a 15% solution of carbamide peroxide is the rough equivalent of a 5% solution of hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide oxidizing agent penetrates the porosities in the rod-like crystal structure of enamel and breaks down stain deposits in the dentin. Power bleaching uses light energy to accelerate the process of bleaching in a dental office. A new bleaching agent is 6-phthalimido peroxy hexanoic acid (PAP).

During a dental implantation procedure, a dental implant is used as a surgical component in the bone of the jaw to support dental restorative treatments like dental crowns, dental bridges, dentures, or sometimes for dental braces.
Diseases and Conditions
Titanium Dental Implant - Titanium dental implants are made from the metal titanium, which is known to be compatible with body tissues and able to bond with adjacent bone during healing. Dental implants support dental restorative treatments like dental crowns, dental bridges, dentures, or sometimes for dental braces.
A dental implant is a "root" device, usually made of titanium, used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth to replace missing teeth.
Virtually all dental implants placed today are root-form endosseous implants, i.e., they appear similar to an actual tooth root (and thus possess a "root-form") and are placed within the bone (endo- being the Greek prefix for "in" and osseous referring to "bone"). The bone of the jaw accepts and osseointegrates with the titanium post. Osseointegration refers to the fusion of the implant surface with the surrounding bone. Dental implants will fuse with bone; however, they lack the periodontal ligament, so they will feel slightly different from natural teeth during chewing.
Prior to the advent of root-form endosseous implants, most implants were either blade endosseous implants, in that the shape of the metal piece placed within the bone resembled a flat blade, or subperiosteal implants, in which a framework was constructed to lie upon and was attached with screws to the exposed bone of the jaws.
Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. They can also be used as anchorage for orthodontic tooth movement. The use of dental implants permits undirectional tooth movement without reciprocal action.
